The 2012-2013 school year is half over. Seniors busying themselves with college and technical school applications will next begin the arduous task of completing applications for financial aid and scholarships. Career Center sponsored scholarships are listed on my "Scholarship" page as well as on the bulletin board down from my office where applications will also be available beginning January 3rd. Just a few tips to help you be the student selected to receive that much needed scholarship $$.
1. Pick up an application...You can't be chosen if you don't apply. Many times there's only one student who makes application. If so....it's their's.
2. Complete every item of the application. If there is an item which doesn't apply to you, place N/A in the blank provided.
3. Pick up two copies of the application. Fill out the first in pencil as a rough draft then correct any mistakes and type the second. A sharp, typed application draws the attention of those making the decisions regarding who receives it.
4. Be prompt. Turn in the application to Dr. Harryman early if you can. For sure turn it in by the deadline to assure it makes it to the individuals who make the decision regarding who receives it.
5. Don't assume you won't make the cut thus not considering applying.
These are simple things to consider and take little time when considering they may be worth $500 to $1,000 dollars of much needed monies when attending education following high school.
