Let me take a few minutes to introducemyself. My name is Sarah Cox and I was asubstitute teacher with the Perry County District for two years. I have been a 6th grade mathteacher for five years and look forward to the year ahead. Last year was great, but this year is goingto be better. I am excited to be herewith you during the 2013-2014 school year.
Asyou all know, it takes a lot of supplies to help students achieve academicsuccess. Supply lists were distributedat local retail stores and in the district mailer; however, I will review thesupply list for those who did not receive it. You will need: a folder, a folderwith brads, two mechanical pencils, ink pen, and highlighter. These things are to be brought to class eachday. You will also need to bring something to read or work on once your math isfinished.
Mathclass meets on a daily basis, so students should arrive prepared and withhomework completed, including showing all work. Students will be given time in class each day to work on assignments; unfinishedassignments will be sent home to be completed. Late assignments will have points taken off, and must complete them bythe following day.
Therewill be a textbook for classroom use only. All students should have a math folder with brads to keep their notesand examples in. At times, you may beable to use your notes for quizzes and some of the tests.
Studentsreceive grades based on points, not percentage. Assignments that will be figured into students’ grades include: dailybellringers, assignments, participation, quizzes, and tests (count for doublepoints.) You will lose points by notcompleting the assignment, not showing all of your work, or just putting downnonsense answers to complete the assignments.
I do not anticipate any problems inmy classroom with effort, assignments, or discipline; however, if any do ariseyou will be contacted via student’s planner, email, or phone. If you have any questions or concerns pleasefeel free to call me directly at 547-7500 ext. 8535 or email at email@example.com. I look forward to seeing you in myclass!
