Another school year has come and gone. The last weeks were filled with project completions, class presentations, field trips, and making plans for next year. The work never ends when it comes to managing all the pieces that make up a school year. The school year ended with many student successes which we recognized at the May Board of Education meeting. Winners of essay contests, Music/Band competition award winners, participants in Math contests and Scholar Bowls, and those taking the ACT through the Duke Talent Search were all recognized for their accomplishments. Congratulations to all of these students once again as we are very proud of their accomplishments. In addition, we send congratulations to our 8th grade Algebra students who took the HS End of Course exam for Algebra...AND they all passed at or above the standard required to be credited with this as a HS math credit! Great Job! We applaud them and their teacher, Mrs. Krieger, for the commitment to excellence in achievement.
Transition day was a success. We are always especially excited to welcome the incoming 5th graders to their new environment. Excitement overwhelms them as they anticipate the changes and new adventures that are to come in their educational life. Another way to introduce them to the MS is through the guided tour for each class provided by our counselor, Mrs. Glenda Gremaud. While we know some students are anxious about this move to MS (As are some parents), we want to send the message that we will do everything to make them feel welcome and have a sense of comfort and belonging. In our experience, the majority of the students are fully engaged in their new setting after about 2-3 days with no ill effects. So, relax and know it will all be fine. PCMS is a wonderful, caring place where each student is valued and honored as capable and unique. Welcome Aboard to the incoming 5th graders and their families!
Our 8th graders enjoyed their ceremony evening as we honored them for their achievement. It was a nice evening of family participation and congratulations shown to the students who now find themselves beginning their HS journey. We wish them well and know that success is in their reach. Our message to them is to keep working hard and dreaming big! For those families finishing their years at PCMS, we thank you for your partnership and cooperative spirit in helping us educate your child. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of their lives.
Our office will be open most days as we hold summer school in June and work on preparations for the new year throughout the summer. Please feel free to call if you have questions about the MS and your child's education here. While we may be on vacation some days, we will certainly get back to you as soon as we can. Enjoy your summer--stay safe, healthy, and have fun with your family!
