• Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s)

Next week your child will be a Star!

While your child is the Star Student of the week, each day will consist of an exciting event or activity to honor him or her and to help us get to know our special classmate.

Monday: Me Bag (Sharing Sack): A small bag will be sent home (on the Friday before the week that your child is the Star Student) with your child to use as the “sharing sack”. Please help your child to collect special items from home with which to fill the bag, and send it back to school with your child on Monday to share with his or her classmates. Try to encourage your child to choose items (3 or 4 at the most) that have some sort of meaning rather than just a collection of toys. In addition to bringing in items, please send in about 3 to 4 pictures of your child and their family to hang up on a poster for the week. The pictures will be returned at the end of the week with no harm done.

Tuesday: Favorite Book: Your star student will bring one of his or her favorite picture book to have the teacher read to the class.

Wednesday: Parent Letter: Parents, you will write a letter to the class telling us how special your child is to you. Send the letter in a sealed envelope to school with your child, and I will read the letter to the class. The content of the letter is up to you but you may want to choose from one of the following ideas: describe special or funny stories about your child for the class to hear, write a silly or serious poem about your child, tell us some neat things we may not know about your child, or write a short story with your child as the main character.

Thursday: Lunch Buddy: Your star student will have the privilege to eat lunch with his/her teacher.

Friday: Star Friends: Your child will be presented with a special book made by his or her classmates. The book will include your child’s name and portraits created by their friends.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions about the exciting upcoming week!

    Sincerely,

    Miss Buchheit
