Perryville High School has announced those graduating seniors who have earned the highest academic honors for the Class of 2020.
To comply with social distancing requirements, the announcement was made outdoors, and group photos were not taken.
Principal Jeff Steffens made the announcement, along with Assistant Principals Shadrick Shafer and Justin Dreyer, to recognize the valedictorian, salutatorian, Top Ten Graduates and those students earning cum laude honors.
The valedictorian of the PHS Class of 2020 is Dru Hemmann, daughter of Mike and Tracy Hemmann. The salutatorian is Mariah Mitchell, daughter of David and Marilyn Mitchell.
The Top Ten graduating seniors are Makayla Burns, Cassidy Cameron, Ainsley Frayer, Emily Fritsche, Makailyn Gerler, Carly Green, Dru Hemmann, Shannon Martin, Mariah Mitchell and Jaylen Strattman.
To earn cum laude honors, a student must earn a minimum 3.6 grade point average, and a 21 composite ACT score, 50 ASVAB score and/or Gold on the ACT WorkKeys. Students who will graduate cum laude (with honors) are Makayla Burns, Kaden Close, Sophie English, Carly Green, Claire Henderson, Michael Holly, Roy Kane, Cole Richardet, Drew Schnurbusch, Kaylin Schuessler and Grace Seabaugh.
To earn magna cum laude honors, a student must earn a minimum 3.75 grade point average, and a 23 composite ACT score, 60 ASVAB score and/or Gold on the ACT WorkKeys. Students who will graduate magna cum laude (with great honor) are Ashlyn Allen, Jaylyn Anderson, Elisabeth Dunn, Abbagale Franklin, Emily Fritsche, Kelsi Fuhrmann, Makailyn Gerler, Ty Hyde, Emma King, Caleb Lappe, Madison Moll, Elizabeth Plunkett, Cailyne Sparkman, Jaylen Strattman and Corey Ziegler.
To earn summa cum laude honors, a student must earn a minimum 3.9 grade point average, and a 27 composite ACT score, 70 ASVAB score and/or Platinum on the ACT WorkKeys. Thos students who will graduate summa cum laude (with highest honors) are Samantha Buchheit, Cassidy Cameron, Brittney Franklin, Ainsley Frayer, Dru Hemmann, Shannon Martin, Mariah Mitchell, Ethan Moran and Avery Wibbenmeyer.
Perryville High School will graduate 168 members of the Class of 2020 during a private commencement for seniors and parents on May 22.
