Dear Primary Center School Family,

I am writing to share information about the start of school at Perry County School District 32. Our Roadmap To Reopening is filled with information that will answer questions about scheduling, transportation, athletics and activities, and critical safety procedures to keep our students and staff healthy when we return to school at the end of August.

Most importantly, this plan tells you what the school year will look like for your child when they come back to the Primary Center. You have two options:

  • Pirates On Campus, which combines in-school and online instruction

  • Pirates At Home, which is a 100% online instructional program

Students attending Pirates on Campus will have the same opportunities as all students have previously experienced in the past.  However, some modifications will be made.  For instance, all meals will be served in classrooms.  Students will attend recess and all special areas (PE, Art, Music and STEM) with their peers from their classroom.  Students will enter the building and leave the building with a face covering on.  We have worked diligently to create an environment where students at this level are NOT required to wear face coverings the entire day.

As you’ll see in the attached District-wide plan, we have created a process that allows us to return to school with procedures in place to reduce the risk of increasing community spread of COVID-19. We will begin school at the moderate alert level (per the Perry County Health Department’s guidelines) and will continue at that level for all of the first semester, unless conditions worsen. If that occurs, it is possible that some or all students may transition to 100% online instruction for a period of time.

Our greatest hope is that our planning, our prevention measures, and the continued support of our school family result in our community’s return to a lower level of risk. We will do all we can to help create conditions that allow school to resume for second semester in the way we are accustomed: All students at school, all day every day.

Until that day, know that we remain committed to our mission of providing an exceptional educational program for your child. We will also continue to support you as parents as you ensure your child’s physical, emotional, and social well-being, whether you chose Pirates On Campus or Pirates At Home.

We ask that you return the completed enrollment form by Friday, Aug. 7,  if you choose Pirates at Home as the best option for your family.  The Primary Center will contact you in regards to your child’s enrollment placement details.

All Primary Center staff are looking forward to having students on campus and can’t wait to welcome them on the first day of school.  We love your children, and can’t wait to see them again!
