Dear parents and guardians,
The District 32 campus will be closed to students beginning Monday, July 6 for a period of at least two weeks.
This decision aligns with the Perry County Health Department’s announcement that the next two weeks have the potential for exponential spread of COVID-19 in our community. They have encouraged all citizens to spend time only with their family groups. They further recommend canceling large gatherings and to continue good hygiene practices like handwashing and wearing masks. Our local health department is currently tracking 70 active cases and has asked more than 150 close contacts to self-isolate.
Specifically:
Adventure Club will be closed Monday, July 6 through Friday, July 17.
All sports and band practices are canceled from Monday, July 6 through Friday, July 17.
In-person summer camps/school are canceled.
Online summer instruction/credit-recovery will continue.
All buildings will be closed. Our summer staff will continue to work, isolating to their own work areas, and will be able to offer you assistance by phone during school hours Monday-Friday. You can also contact our summer staff via email.
We will monitor this situation with the guidance of our local health department, and update you on the status of the closure on July 16.
We join our health department in encouraging you to continue to stay at home when you’re ill, avoid large crowds, and physically distance and wear masks as recommended when you go out to protect yourself and those around you.
Our highest priority and greatest hope is to safely bring our students back to campus on Aug. 26, and we’ll continue to work toward that goal.
We appreciate your continued support and understanding as we navigate these uncertain times.
Sincerely,
Andy Comstock
Superintendent
