Marine Corps veteran and retired educator Milton Wick will provide the keynote address during Perry County District 32’s annual Veterans Day Assembly on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
Wick served in the USMC from 1985-94 before continuing with the Marine Reserves until 2005. Lt. Col. Wick was deployed to Iraq in 2003 where he led 1,100 Marines for eight months. His time as a Marine included stops in Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Panama, Kuwait, and Iraq.
A longtime educator, Wick most recently served as the Principal of Perry County Middle School from 2017 until 2022. Prior to his time in District 32, Wick served 10 years in administration at Carthage High school in southwest Missouri. All told, he enjoyed a 30-year career as a teacher, administrator, and coach in Texas and Missouri.
The annual District 32 Veterans Day Celebration gives students the opportunity to invite a special veteran to campus for breakfast before honoring America’s veterans together in a campus-wide assembly at Pirate Stadium. The assembly includes patriotic musical performances by band and choir students from each school building.
