Homecoming is Saturday, Sept. 30, parade at 10 am, Game at 1 pm, Student Dance from 8-11 pm


Perryville High School will celebrate its 68th annual Homecoming on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023. A week of special events leads up to Homecoming, including a bonfire, spirit days, and an assembly. The following information will help your family enjoy all of these activities. PHS parents, please note that students must be in attendance all day on the days they wish to participate in Homecoming activities.

 

Bonfire is Sunday, Sept. 24

The annual PHS Homecoming Bonfire is a family event that features the PHS Band and Cheerleaders. The bonfire will be lit at dusk on Sunday (around 7 pm) and remain lit until about 9 pm on the middle school football practice field (across the street from the track). Students must follow all school rules while in attendance. Seniors will bring the wood for the bonfire at 4 pm on Sunday, and the fall sports senior captains and presidents of PHS clubs will light the fire.

 

Student Dance ticket sales begin Monday, Sept. 25

Tickets for the PHS Homecoming Dance will be on sale Monday-Friday, Sept. 25-29. Tickets will be sold in the PHS lobby from 7:30-7:55 am and 2:55-3:15 pm or in Mr. Brent Broeking’s room (S204) during the day. Students must have all their fines paid in order to purchase tickets. Dance tickets will only be sold in advance and will not be sold at the door. The cost per ticket is $10. A student wishing to bring a guest who does not attend Perryville High School must fill out an application form (available in the wall pockets outside the high school office window) and return it by 3 pm on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023.  Guests cannot be 21 years old or older and middle school students are not allowed. The PHS Student Homecoming Dance is from 8-11 pm Saturday, Sept. 30 at Perry Park Center.

 

Neon Day kicks off Spirit Week

Spirit Days are intended to build Pirate Pride throughout Homecoming Week. Please remember that costume days are still school days, and students should be able to move and walk freely. Costumes should meet the school dress code, and body paint is not allowed.

Float building begins Monday, Sept .25

All PHS students are encouraged to help build their class float for the Homecoming parade. Float building is set for 4-8 pm Monday-Wednesday, Sept. 25-27 at the Career Center.

 

Students ride class wagons in the parade

All PHS students are invited to ride on their class wagon. Meet at the Career Center at 9 am on Saturday, Sept. 30. The wagon moves to City Park by 9:30 am. The parade leaves Perryville City Park at 10 am, and class wagons return to the campus to unload.

 

Pirates host Jefferson Blue Jays

Students are encouraged to cheer on the Perryville Pirates at the annual Homecoming football game. The Pirates will host the Jefferson Blue Jays with kickoff at 1 pm. The halftime ceremonies include the announcement of the Homecoming King and Queen, winners of the high-school float competition, and the field show performance by the PHS Marching Buccaneers.

 

Photos at the Shrine

Our friends at The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal have again invited PHS families to visit their beautiful campus for photos prior to the dance. The grounds will be open for photos from 3-6 pm Saturday, Sept. 30. (The Shrine Church is a place of worship, and is not open for photos.) Please show reverence while on the Shrine campus, and be sure to leave nothing behind.

 

Student Dance

The PHS Student Homecoming Dance is from 8-11 pm Saturday, Sept. 30 at Perry Park Center. The 2023 Perryville High School Homecoming Court includes seniors Rilyand Graham and Daisy Ernst, seniors Ashton Anschultz and Johannah Hoffer, seniors Simon Wibbenmeyer and Kaelyn Goehman, juniors Russell Giesler and Clara Schumer, sophomores Ayden Turbyville and Brynn Wibbenmeyer, and freshmen Cyler Myers and Leah Bell. The King and Queen, one of the senior pairs chosen by student vote, will be crowned during the halftime ceremonies at the PHS Homecoming football game and will reign with their court over the Homecoming Dance.
