Driver shortage to bring changes to D32 transportation

After you read the letter from our transportation director, parents of students who DO NOT need bus service are asked to complete the form at  https://forms.gle/ri2AKRKpYQdayaRN9

March 16, 2022

Dear Parent/Caregiver,

District 32 Transportation Service is committed to providing our students with safe and reliable transportation to and from school each day. This is becoming increasingly difficult to accomplish because of the ongoing shortage of school bus drivers in our area, and across the nation. Currently, three regular drivers and one substitute bus driver will be out of work for an extended period of time.

In an effort to reduce the likelihood of canceling bus service for a morning or afternoon route, or both, we are recalculating our ridership in the hopes of consolidating bus routes. Our goal is to free up one or two substitute drivers who are currently driving each day, to ensure coverage when a regular driver is unable to drive.

We need your help to complete this process:

If you registered your child/children for transportation services at the beginning of the school year and your child DOES NOT AND WILL NOT RIDE THE BUS for the remainder of the school year, please complete the Google form at https://forms.gle/ri2AKRKpYQda...  by 5 pm Sunday, March 20.

If your child DOES ride the school bus, you do not need to take any action.

We anticipate that it will take approximately 2 weeks to complete this process. If there is a change to your child/children’s bus route, you will be notified by the district’s automated messaging system at least 2 days prior to the change taking effect.

I appreciate your assistance with this restructuring, as well as your patience and understanding as we navigate this challenging time.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at sorf@pcsd32.com or call the transportation office at 573-547-7500 Ext. 790.

Sincerely,

Sarah Orf

Director of Transportation
