We want you to join our team!

Perry County School District 32 is hiring custodians now for immediate placement with our summer crew, and for the regular school year. Our full-time custodians work Monday-Friday year-round. Summer hours are from 7 am to 3:30 pm with a 30-minute lunch plus two 15-minute paid breaks. Both day and evening hours are available during the school year.

The district’s custodians receive paid time off on 6 national holidays plus East Perry Fair Day, as well as extended paid time off over Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter breaks.

Custodians also receive 2 paid personal days and 12 paid sick days per school year. Sick days can accumulate up to 180 days, and upon retirement may be cashed in on a pro-rated basis for employees with 15 or more years of employment with the district.

Full-time custodians also earn paid vacation, starting with one week for the first two years of employment, two weeks of paid vacation for years 3-10, three weeks for years 11-19 and four full weeks of paid vacation each year beginning with the 20th year of employment.

The district also offers excellent benefits. Full-time custodians are provided medical insurance, either HSA or PPO plans, with the district paying up to $650 per month in premiums. If you choose an HSA and the premium is less than $650 per month, the difference is deposited into your HAS account.

Custodians at Perry County School District 32 are enrolled in the Public Education Employee Retirement System, or PEERS, and the district matches your 6.86% contribution. This is in addition to your participation in the Social Security system.

The starting wage for an inexperienced custodian is $13 per hour. If you already have years of experience in custodial work, you could earn up to $22.55 per hour. The Board of Education also provides annual increases to the base pay for district employees.

Full-time custodians also receive a board-paid $10,000 life insurance policy with the option to purchase additional coverage.
