Eight Perryville High School juniors will attend Boys and Girls State at Lindenwood College in St. Charles from June 22-29. The students who will attend the American Legion Boys State are Grant Hotop, Jeffrey Redecker, Wyatt Schremp, and Grady Warren. The students who will attend the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State are Lydia Barrows, Katie Broeking, Taylor Ebersohl, and Gwynivere Newbrough.
Boys and Girls State of Missouri are eight-day hands-on experiences in the operation and fundamentals of government. They draw together the best and brightest high school juniors to help lead them down the path of individual success and leadership through "doing," not just learning. Using the United States democratic system as a basis, the participants or citizens, construct their own state, learning competition, the value of public service, the strength of the individual voice and vote.
Students are selected for participation based on their leadership abilities, interest in government, service to others, and academics.
