It's everyone's favorite day every spring at Perry County School District 32 - the day when students, staff, and families come together to celebrate Special Olympics.
Hosted by Perryville High School's Student Council, this event provides students with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to discover new strengths and abilities, skills and success. Founded in 1968, the Special Olympics organization strives to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of all people.
At District 32, athletes in Grades K-12 compete in track and field events including 50 and 100-meter races, relays, running long jump, and softball toss. This year, more than 50 athletes competed in the Special Olympics.
