The Perryville FFA Chapter took 10 first-year members to take part in the annual Greenhand Motivational Conference on January 8 in Cape Girardeau.

The event was part of a series of 19 events across the state presented by the Missouri FFA Association state officers and sponsored by the Missouri FFA Foundation. The Greenhand Motivational Conference gives first-year members the opportunity to learn about being positive role models, learning to get involved, making sound choices, becoming active team members, and making a lasting difference in their lives, schools, and communities.

Through interactive workshops and skits, the state FFA officers encouraged first year FFA members to build their character skills, explore their talents, and reach outside their comfort zone for the opportunity provided through FFA membership. These first-year FFA agricultural students were encouraged to set goals for their education, careers, and FFA experience.

The FFA is a national youth organization of over 1,042,245 student members preparing for leadership and careers in science, business and technology of agriculture with 369 chapters and more than 27,000 members in Missouri. The FFA strives to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for Premier Leadership, Personal Growth, and Career Success through agricultural education.
