The Perry County School District 32 school family is mourning the loss of a beloved teacher and colleague. Laura Neislein, who taught agriculture education at Perryville Area Career and Technology Center, died Tuesday, Aug. 17. Visitation is set for 4-8 pm Friday, Aug. 20 and 6:30-8:15 am Saturday, Aug. 21 at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville. Her funeral is at 10 am Saturday, Aug. 21 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.
Laura served as the co-sponsor of Perryville FFA, and was also a bus driver.
“Laura’s death is a devastating loss for our school family,” said Superintendent Andy Comstock. “She was an amazing instructor, a wonderful leader and role model for her students, and a friend to all she met. She’s being remembered for her laugh, her zest for life, and her passion for teaching.”
Comstock said that students will be offered counseling services when school resumes Monday, and supports have been offered to staff members. “We are grieving,” he said. “Our hearts ache for her fiance´ Andrew, her parents and siblings, and all who loved her.”

Laura Elizabeth Neislein, 30, of Altenburg, Missouri passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at St. Louis University Hospital.
She was born May 9, 1991 in Perryville, Missouri to Frank Neislein and Jane (Huber) Neislein.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg, a 2009 graduate of Perryville High School, and a 2015 graduate of the University of Missouri. taught agriculture education at Perryville Area Career and Technology Center, sponsored the Perryville FFA Chapter and drove a school bus. She was a member of the ADK Teachers Sorority and was a board member of the Missouri Farm Bureau.
Survivors include her parents, Frank Neislein and Jane Neislein both of Perryville, MO; fiancé, Andrew Blouin of Altenburg, MO; three brothers, Tim (Rachael) Neislein, David (Brandy) Neislein and Gregory Neislein all of Perryville, MO; one niece, Kaitlyn; and two nephews, Thomas and Gabriel.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Barbara and Wilbert Neislein and Juanita and Nicholas Huber.
Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 20, 2021 and 6:30 am to 8:15 am on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville with the Rev. Frank Lucas officiating.
Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Perryville.
Memorial contributions may be given to family use or Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg or Perryville.
